Developing Useful Weather Analysis Tools for Meteorology Enthusiasts and Professionals
A collection of weather and climate tools — from trip planning to commodity market signals.
Enter any city and date to see historical weather distributions: temperature range, rain probability, and snow chance — drawn from decades of station records. Plan smarter than a 10-day forecast.
LiveFull seasonal climate overview for any location. Month-by-month temperature, precipitation, and snow climatology with percentile bands and record extremes — visualized as interactive charts.
LiveCompare live radar returns to model output for near-term forecasting. Useful for identifying model biases and verifying nowcasts in real time.
LiveOverlays ERA5 weather anomalies onto global crop area grids to compute agronomic stress indices for corn, wheat, soybeans, coffee, and cotton. Validated against USDA yield data (R²=0.20). ECMWF SEAS5 seasonal forecasts included.
Open SourceJMM Weather is a pet project that has been on-and-off since 2004. Starting as a snow forecasting site for my high school — where I was known far and wide as the local weatherman — it has evolved into a more technical and programmatic resource. The goal is to build tools that turn raw weather data into decisions: whether to pack an umbrella on a trip, or whether a drought is setting up that could move corn futures.
